Infinite MonkeysA conspiracy against actors who starred in "Rudy"! That's the only reason I can conjure for why the Motion Picture Academy overlooked Sean Astin for a best supporting actor nomination. Samwise gets snubbed and Alec Baldwin gets a nod for basically playing himself? Damn you, Oscar!
It's also a conspiracy against...me! I've seen exactly one of the nominees for best picture, and none of the films whose lead actors or actresses were nominated. My wife and I went to see "Lost In Translation" two weeks ago, only to discover it was no longer playing at the theater we were led to believe it was showing. Damn you, Hollywood.com!
I hold out little hope of ever seeing most of these films on the big-screen. Perhaps that's just as well. My friend Newlywed Rich has a "no-theater rule", which makes good sense in most cases. But even he will make exceptions now and again.
