Infinite MonkeysOkay, I've got CNN Headline News in the background, and the "incidental" music between bits was a particularly obscure song from my past: "Other Voices" from The Cure's third (or fourth, depending on how you're counting) album, _Faith_. Completely unexpected - it's not a particularly "catchy" tune, I was caught off-guard.
Last time I was up here (Rocklin, CA), just a couple of weeks ago, I was standing outside of Fat's Asia Bistro, when I heard a hip-hop song that was using "Other Voices" as a backing track. Freaky. And no, this wasn't the same recording - the CNN broadcast was clearly using the original track, while the hip-hop song added some drum beats over the top of the song.
It all brings me back to the time, about 10 years ago, when I was in the Seattle airport and heard a "Muzak" version of The Replacements, "Skyway." I don't understand this crazy world we live in.
