B*tch!

Someone tell me that the woman in this story is not the world's biggest b*tch!

Durango - Two teenage girls decided one summer's evening to skip a dance where there might be cursing and drinking to stay home and bake cookies for their neighbors.

Big mistake.

They were sued, successfully, for an unauthorized cookie drop on one porch.
The July 31 deliveries consisted of half a dozen chocolate-chip and sugar cookies accompanied by big hearts cut out of red or pink construction paper with the message: "Have a great night."

Sued for an "Unauthorized cookies drop." Sorry, never heard'a that one.

The notes were signed, "Love, The T and L Club," code for Taylor Ostergaard, then 17, and Lindsey Jo Zellitti, 18.

Inside one of the nine scattered rural homes south of Durango that got cookies that night, a 49-year-old woman became so terrified by the knocks on her door around 10:30 p.m. that she called the sheriff's department. Deputies determined that no crime had been committed.

Oh shut up, just shut the hell up.

But Wanita Renea Young ended up in the hospital emergency room the next day after suffering a severe anxiety attack she thought might be a heart attack.
A Durango judge Thursday awarded Young almost $900 to recoup her medical bills. She received nothing for pain and suffering.

Nothing for pain and suffering? Damn the legal system!!

"The victory wasn't sweet," Young said Thursday afternoon. "I'm not gloating about it. I just hope the girls learned a lesson."

Yep, Ms. Wanita Renea Young, they learned a lesson. Two, as a matter of fact.

Lesson number one: You're a bitch. Big time.

Lesson number two: Never, ever, ever do anything nice for someone ever again in your whole damn life. Never, never, never. Ever.

Taylor's mother, Jill Ostergaard, said her daughter "cried and cried" after Judge Doug Walker handed down his decision in La Plata County Small Claims Court.

"She felt she was being punished for doing something nice," Jill Ostergaard said.

Well, they were, for crying out loud. That and the whole Wanita being a b*tch thing we've already discussed.

The judge said that he didn't think the girls acted maliciously but that it was pretty late at night for them to be out. He didn't award any punitive damages.

Taylor and Lindsey declined to comment Thursday, saying only that they didn't want to say anything hurtful.

Young said the girls showed "very poor judgment."

Yes, Wanita, being nice to you is VERY poor judgment. No question about that. You being a b*tch and all.

Just as dusk arrived a little after 9 p.m., Taylor and Lindsey began their mad spree. They didn't stop at houses that were dark. But where lights shone, the girls figured people were awake and in need of cookies. A kitchen light was on at Young's home.

Court records contain half a dozen letters from neighbors who said that they enjoyed the unexpected treats.

Sad that this is a point that many felt needed to be made. Worse, that it did not help.

The cookies were good. It was a nice surprise. They weren't scared.

Really? No shit?

But Young, home with her own 18-year-old daughter and her elderly mother, said she saw shadowy figures who banged and banged at her door. When she called out, "Who's there?" no one answered. The figures ran off.

She thought perhaps they were burglars or some neighbors she had tangled with in the past, she said.

"We just wanted to surprise them," Taylor said.

Young left her home that night to stay at her sister's, but her symptoms, including shaking and an upset stomach, wouldn't subside. The next morning she went to Mercy Medical Center.

Oh for crying out loud, someone shut this drama queen up. Good lord. Unmentioned is the very obvious fact that the cookies were left there and that either this b*tch found them or the cops did when they got there. With the note!! And she gets the vapors and runs off to a hospital??

"We feel that knocking on a door and leaving cookies is a gesture of kindness and would not create an anxiety attack in the general public," Taylor's parents wrote to the court.

The girls wrote letters of apology to Young. Taylor's letter, written a few days after the episode, said in part: "I didn't realize this would cause trouble for you. ... I just wanted you to know that someone cared about you and your family."

The families had offered to pay Young's medical bills if she would agree to indemnify the families against future claims.

Young wouldn't sign the agreement. She said the families' apologies rang false and weren't delivered in person. The matter went to court.

They offered to pay her bills but the b*tch wanted more! Goddammit, is this woman for real?

Young said she believes that the girls should not have been running from door to door late at night.

"Something bad could have happened to them," she said.

Something bad did happen, Wanita. You.

Anyone out there in Colorado have any eggs?

UPDATE: You can hear a local radio interview of one of the girls here.

UPDATE II: I have been deleting personal addresses, with the exception of the mailing address offered by the family of one of the young girls involved in this. I wish for that B*tch Wanita to become a pariah in her community (and I suspect she is, now), but I am uncomfortable with encouraging harassment of her. She is symbolic of a wider problem with frivolous lawsuits. Fix that, and you fix people like that worthless bottom-feeder Wanita.

Yes there was a crime that occurred here,
The parents of these 2 girls have taught them compassion, kindness and the need to make other people happy maybe they should get 6 month for each cookie?
Unfortunately I have a feeling the girls are slowly becoming the minority and the judge in this matter did not help there cause but show others like them kindness. WILL BE REWARDED WITH PUNISHMENT.
That is the true crime.

Well, girls You did a wonderful thing! Love thy neighbor as thyself as the Bible says. I don't understand people like Whinney Wanita. She must be such a miserable and unhappy and insecure person to sue you for your kindsness. She's pathetic!
I am very proud of you for what you did. We cannot be responsible for a persons actions, only our own. Remember, every good deed WILL BE rewarded. God Bless You!

Dear God, what a pig that woman is. Its people like her that are ruining America. She probably voted for Bush.

Let's not, when tipping our hats, forget to tip our hats most vigorously to the judge, true idiot of the case.

Posted by: John Mendenhall at February 5, 2005 12:41 PM

I hope people are paying attention when that particular judge starts campaigning for re-election. He should have to pay that ignorant cow. I'm just stunned. I hope she becomes the pariah she should be.

is there an address we can send donations for the girls' unjustified punishment costs?
it is indeed a very sad tale about a very sad lady, wanita...

Does anybody have Judge Doug Walker's email address so I can tell him what a freaking idiot he is?

Posted by: mitch at February 5, 2005 09:00 PM

Let's see now...a complete idiot who abuses the emergency system, and then runs IMMEDIATELY looking to sue somebody over squat.

Sound like a Bush voter?

Puhleez.

SOMEBODY find me the address of the moron judge, PLEASE!!!

I've looked all over my usual places, but have come up short so far.

I sent these girls 20 bucks.....I wish lots of other people would too.

I'm not sure who is less intelligent, this idiot woman, this idiot judge, or the idiot who tried to make a STUPID political point about this.

Posted by: Scott Brown at February 6, 2005 05:57 AM

I agree with all of your comments. The judge is a stooge, We can only be thankful that he didn't award punitive damages. JamesPh, whoever you are, I thoroughly enjoyed your scathing commentary, and may I say that your accuracy is infallible. I will be sending a donation to these girls in the name of my five children, who I hope never run across a bitch like Wanita.

Posted by: carolyn at February 6, 2005 08:20 AM

I blame the judge. The bitch neighbor clearly overreacted and wanted to be a victim, and the judge went along.

She said she was attacked by a neighbor in the past... I wonder why.

This is the best rant I have found on the subject so far, but comment connecting this to Bush voters doesn't make sense. Where do we find most of our victims?

Posted by: michael parker at February 6, 2005 08:21 AM

Bleedin' Jeezus, you friggin liberals just never give it a break, do you? Add this up, Einstein:
1. Touchy-feely teens try to do something nice for no profit, and no obvious benefit other than just feeling good about themselves and;
2. Victim-skank c**t sees an opportunity to feed at the great lawsuit pig-sty 'cause she's a defenseless victim, doncha know, who ought to have her day in court and;
3. Piece of s**t scumbag judge who obviously has about as much buisiness making decisions as any of you would trying to fly nekkid off the courthouse, but who manages to make yet another dipshit decision supporting "victimized" retards.

Yeah, a regular Republican jamboree here. Freakin' moron.

Civil Court Phone Number: 970-247-2304
No email for the judge, but we have the email for the slimeball County that employs him's recorder and clerk who probably keeps his records:

Recording@co.laplata.co.us

Tell her to pass it along to the useless dickweed.

LOL.....I have to laugh at the liberal who tried to blame this one on President Bush. The libs will stop at nothing to make a situation political. I'm sending $20 to those little girls, not to help pay the fine, but in hope that it will help them believe that there is nothing wrong with being nice to people. I just wish there were more people in the world like Taylor and Lindsey and I hope my son grows up to be just like them. And btw, Mad Dude, I bet the BITCH voted Kerry if she voted at all.........

Posted by: Marty at February 6, 2005 10:26 AM

I sent in suggestions to the Leno and Letterman shows that they have these young women as guests (it was my daughter's idea). Don't know if that will make any difference, but it's worth a try.

I don't understand the "Bush Voter" comments, it's usually the republican party that pushes frivolous law suit reforms, and the democrat party and trial lawyers that are against the reforms. Besides, who says she voted?

Posted by: brian_c_gar at February 6, 2005 12:33 PM

Great idea, Brian! I'm going to do the same. Maybe if we can get more publicity on this thing the Judge will be exposed for what he did and what he is. With all the crime and terrorism that is going on today it is hard to believe that some moron judge would be worried about prosecuting these girls. It's just another example of the loud majority getting their way.....

Posted by: Marty at February 6, 2005 12:45 PM

I just hope she knows some sick freak just like her will now know the following:
1. She lives alone
2. She has at least $900
3. She dont have a phone or wont call police when someone sneaks around and scares the hell out of her
4. NOT ONE person will feel bad if she gets wacked.

Taylor Ostergaard is my cousin. Richard and Jill Ostergaard her parents are the best people in the world. If this wench knew anything about them at all she would never in a million years would have even concieved taking advantage of them. My parents were moving a few years back and they drove up hours upon hours to help them move with never asking for anything in return. Thats the kind of people they are. They would give you the shirt right off their back. The community response should suggest how loved they are in Durango. I hope you can't sleep at night , Wanita Young, for your stupidity overbears your pebble-sized heart. Mabey you should try suing someone because you have lost your mind. I don't think it's worth much though...

I feel the need to add that I did not appreciate the anti-Bush comments. My husband and I have done similar cookie deliveries to our friends, would never sue someone who left cookies on our doorstep and we BOTH voted for President Bush. This incident has nothing to do with politics. To use it as an opportuntity to imply that republicans are uncaring people is unfair. We (republicans) just do not believe in big government and in the government telling us how and what to do with our money. It does not mean we are spoiled or rich or do not volunteer for other or donate our money to others. To assume that is to make a horrible mistake. Thank you.

I was so shocked by this I thought it was a "story" somebody made up--a suburban legend? If it really did happen then the wanita woman needs to be institutionalized. the judges in our country are already given to much latitude in their judgements. this judge was WRONG to award wanita any thing. Was he elected? I hope that the two kind girls continue to be kind to others. I saw no "poor judgement" on behalf of the girls. I guess that this "judge" also sees acts of kindness as "poor judgment". oh, I am a Christian and I voted for BUSH! --What has politics to do with this anyway? This is a sad state of affairs when evil is repaid for kindness.

Posted by: brandon at February 10, 2005 11:41 PM

Well, this IS pretty astonishing. The Cookie Monster (Good ol' Wanita) and her husband ("Gloves are off" Herb) were apparently on Good Morning America (I didn't see it, but you can read that on ABC.com) and are apparently very upset that the girls said anything to reporters about it. If the Cookie Samaritans would have "just kept their mouths shut" after court these two horrible people would have been able to live in peace.
Apparently, the Cookie Monster was attacked by someone at some point 15 years before and that's why she got so nervous. If she was the same kind of human garbage then that she is now, we can probably assume she provoked it.

To play the Devil's advocate for a moment - let's say that 10:30 WAS a little late at night to be knocking on doors in the middle of nowhere. That might NOT have been the best judgement the girls could have made. However... They're 17 and 18. They didn't foresee that SOMEONE might have a psychotic break over an act of kindness. At that age (and I'm asking the older readers here) how many people have 20/20 foresight? There's a fuck of a lot of WORSE things kids their age get into. And some judge thinks that these two sweet girls should be penalized for this? Assault and Battery is one thing - but Assugary and Bakery?

For the Cookie Samaritans... "You go, Girls..."
Hopefully the lesson you DID learn from all this is that even when a good deed does NOT go unpunished... There really IS still a world full of decent people out there who really DO appreciate your kindness, and they'll cover your backsides when the leeches of the world try to take a bite of of them...

I work with juveniles who often make poor decisions just as Wanita Young. For one of our group discussions we talked about this incident and I was shocked that all of my boys wanted to write a letter of graditude to these two girls. I was not as surprised at some of the names that my guys came up with for Ms. Young and was very much in agreement. As sick as this incident is I hope everyone realizes the massive amount of good that actually comes out of Wanita Young doing something so stupid. Wanita allowed my boys to see what evil resembles and allowed them also to see that there are far more kind and wonderful people out there. I think we should thank Wanita Young for allowing people such as my residents, who don't see the world in a positive light to see that our great American society will not tolerate good people being punished. These are the types of stories that make my job just a bit easier. Thanks Girls!!!!

People please remember one important thing here, there are always two sides to a story and somewhere in the middle lies the truth. All of you out there have brains and know that what the media usually puts out is one sided and cannot most of the time be trusted and relied upon for accurate accounting of events. This story sounds very absurd at face value and unreasonable. How many of you have challenged yourselves to seek an accurate and independent report of this story? Have you reviewed the court documents and transcripts of the hearing and only then made a determination for yourself of what happened and who is not being honest? Yellow journalism is alive and florishing this day and age because too many people don't ask enough questions before jumping to conclusions. Please... Think for yourselves and don't make uneducated assumptions. Remember, "assuming makes an ass out of u and me". This whole story sounds way too absurd and unreasonable to be true. Don't you think?

No, I do not think the story is unreasonable andf untrue. It actually has been widely reported, with many of those involved being interviewed. Yes, it is absurd, but that is because the gentle Wanita over-reacted and made a fool of herself over cookies.
