Posted by David at February 26, 2006 07:20 PMA woman at our church was recently (this year) in a horrible accident, and was in a coma for weeks. She was diagnosed as brain dead.
She is presently out of her coma, undergoing physical therapy, and spending a couple of days per week at home.
Did she experience brain damage? Yes, absolutely. But perhaps we need a more accurate descriptor for her prior state than "brain dead," because on its face the term conjures an interpretation that clearly was not correct.
