Funny, But Not That Funny

Drudge links to a story about some hapless punk who was ejected from a showing of "The Pink Panther" for inappropriate laughter. Frankly, I agree. Steve Martin may be a genius, and the "Pink Panther" remake is quite good, but it isn't that good. Audiences shouldn't have to laugh like psychopaths. Matt Brown... good night and good luck.

Am I wrong, or is this "hapless punk" not significantly hampered by a disabling disease? I find the original posting graceless (in a religious and aesthetic sense) and careless.

Whereas I find your inability to detect obvious irony somewhat disturbing -- though not entirely surprising -- coming from a teacher of English and Social Studies. That's the public schools for ya.

"Laughter is a devilish whim which deforms, uh, the lineaments of the face and makes men look like monkeys."

My mistake was in forgetting that irony died when the Twin Towers fell.

Oh dear... was that insensitive of me?

No, no, you're not insensitive. You are "graceless (in a religious and aesthetic sense) and careless."

Personally, I'd say you were "graceless" in an ironic sense, but I'm not sure that means what I think it means.
