Duck and Cover

Does anybody else look at Bush's response to Hurricane Katrina, and shudder with fear at the inevitable bungled response to (and lack of preparation for) Avian Flu?

On a related note, did anyone ever imagine that they'd live to see a President whose ineptitude actually exceeds that of Jimmy Carter?

No, and WTF would be my answers to those questions. But then again, I'm not taking political cues from a guy who drinks Captain Morgan's and Kahlua mixed together.

No.

I still don't get the criticism of the feds for Katrina. The first responders are always the State and local governments. Based on my experience with the flooding here in Northern California, the feds only come in for disaster relief and response late in the game. In Nawlins, the state and locals were the ones that were inept.

I also don't get what else should be done to prepare for the Avian flu. Robb, do you have any specifics? It seems like spending (last time I heard) $7.1 billion was a good start.
