Reading for the Month of May

If you pretend to be smart, and you give a damn about the Republic, then allow me commend the following titles to you (with intermittent commentary to come):

"Open Target: Where America is Vulnerable to Attack" by Clark Kent Ervin.
"The Losing Battle With Islam" by David Selbourne.
"To Dare and to Conquer: Special Operations and the Destiny of Nations, from Achilles to Al Qaeda" (really should be "from Odysseus to Al Qaeda," but that wouldn't be as alliterative) by Derek Leebaert.
"La Raza: The Mexican Americans" by Stan Steiner.

I would add, if you haven't read it yet, Tony Blankley's book "The West's Last Chance: Will We Win The Clash Of Civilizations?" While I (surprise, surprise) don't agree with his conclusions about what our response should be, I found his analysis of the conflict to be compelling. Also, his "theoretical" future scenarios are frighteningly prescient, given the book was published about six months before the Danish cartoon controversy erupted.
