Tour de France: The Countdown Begins

I'm sure I'm not the only one who wonders what has happened to our beloved Monkey Brad over the last months, other than an occasional wet dream-like post about bicycle accessories, he has been strangely silent.

But as the countdown to the Tour de Lance-less continues, I got to wondering. You would think that with the ultimate cycling geek event, Monkey Brad would be wet with anticipation and posting up a storm on the Tour.

But alas, nothing but silence.

But then I got to wondering. What could he be doing? Then it occurred to me. What could he have been doing all this time?

He's tanned.
He' rested.
He's ready.
He's Monkey.

Tour de Monkey 2006?

Tanned? Yes, with funy tan lines from my cycling shorts and jersies. Think extreme farmer's tan.

Rested? Not really. My miles are back up and increasing. For the last two months I've reached my goal of 500 miles per month. For June I've already logged 652.78 with two days left. But in bewteen training and racing, I've got this new headmaster job that I'm trying to come to terms with. Between interviewing new families and new teachers, I'm prepping for two new classes I'll be teaching next year. Oh, and teacher training. And there are these three other people who seem to be living in my house.

Ready? No comment.

I do have TdF fever, but I've been able to watch cycling all season, both on OLN and on cycling.tv

The Giro d'Italia was great. The Spring classics were fun. There's a huge doping scandal. the Race Across America was great (and I volunteered at a checkpoint). I've found a great new podcast.

Yes, I should be writing. But I just hate you so, JamesPh. My hatred for you is so bitter and sharp... it overwhelms me.

No Monkey Brad? I blame JamesPh.
