At least in the primaries, I will.
Posted by RobbL at March 12, 2007 11:00 AMI wonder if mouthpieces of the Republican establishment like Hewitt and Medved will freeze Paul out, or if they'll step up to the plate and invite him on their shows. Will he be squeezed out of the debates? How will media and pols treat him now that he's running for President on a major party ticket? Will they find new excuses (unelectability?) to avoid talking about him?
Posted by: Monkey RobbL at March 12, 2007 11:22 AMI bet Medved will. He'll try to make sport out of Paul. That would be an interesting broadcast.
But he'll be accorded the same treatment that the media is giving the other second and third tier candidates. The man's ideas may be sound, but he doesn't have a chance of selling them beyond the fringes. Sad, but true, my libertarian brother.
Will Paul be squeezed out of debates? I doubt it -- at least, not at first. Alan Keyes participated in some of the early debates in 2000 (?), before it became obvious that he was wasting oxygen. Imagine Ron Paul, Tom Tancredo and Duncan Hunter on the dais with Mitt Romney, Rudy Guiliani and the execrable John McCain. Oh, the carnage!
