What Do James Lileks and George W. Bush Have In Common?

Both are miserable failures. Yet somehow we cannot help but pay attention.

The radio show at the end of Lileks' bleat reminds me of the first half of "Disgustipated" by Tool.

And wouldn't it be great if Bush's failures were more like Lileks's?

"Failed to send troops to fight and die in an unjust and unproductive war."
"Failed to approve warrantless wiretaps of American citizens."
"Failed to appoint Attorney General who approves of torture."
"Failed to appoint an unqualified crony to lead FEMA."
"Failed to file paperwork necessary to run for re-election."

You've gotta miss good, old-fashioned executive incompetence in days like these.

Ah, Robb. You've got a million of 'em. I missed you in Long Beach last weekend. Truly. I passed out, but it would have been worth it to brawl with you. Maybe next time, friend.

I'm with ya, Robb. I wish we had an Attorney General who believed in torture to. By god, I wish we did.

Well, Merry Christmas, then. You've got your wish.
