Michael Vick deserves this...

I'm just sayin'.

Jamie Foxx said this week that dog fighting is no big deal. That it's part of the "black" lifestyle. And it goes without saying, that Foxx blamed racism for the flak Vick is getting.

All right, then. So, this reality of dog fighting, according to Jamie Foxx, is no big deal:

I'm just sayin'....Must be a cultural thang.

And then we need to jolt him a bit with just enough voltage to really cause some pain - while he's wet - but let's not drown him quite yet - then let's set him up on that "rape thing" and let whoever wants have their way with him - with whatever apparatus they so choose - I'm thinking a broken bottle - then slam him on the ground until he's almost dead - and finally a little waterboarding action. Leave him be... When he starts to get up and come back around - start all over again! Yeah. Cultural thing. F'ng lowlife scum deserves only the worse - him and all his buddies, too. [Why do you think DMX had TWELVE pitbulls??? More of this nasty "cultural thing" perhaps???]

Thanks for the comments. Now with DMX's thing coming out, I have a feeling this is not the end of it. We're going to see a lot more celebrities -- and especially athletes -- getting uncovered.

I heard a report on Washington, DC, news when this broke where a reporter interviewed Redskins running back Clinton Portis. He and a teammate blew the whole thing off, saying it's what you do in the South. And besides, "It's just a dog."

They seriously had no idea that it was a crime. And when informed of that fact, Portis and his teammate said it shouldn't be. Again, "It's just a dog."

Yeah.

One would think that if Jamie Foxx is right, that this is part of the "black lifestyle", he would want to do something about it. The fact that he dismisses the objection to this kind of horrible cruelty as "racism" is simply incmprehensible.

If this is going to become about race, we got some serious problems.

Thanks for posting the pics. People need to see them to truly comprehend.

Bastards.

And you know... that's crap about it being part of the "black" lifestyle. No. That's [baloney sandwich]. What we're talking about here is a "thug" lifestyle. And it deserves to be exposed, ridiculed, and rejected. Allowing this to be tied to a race is misguided, inaccurate, and frankly immoral. "Black" people deserved no ownership of this barbarity. This is about lowlife scum, whatever the color. Go ahead. Label me a "hater." But get straight exactly what it is I'm hatin'. It ain't your chromosomes.

Monkey Brad,

In an ideal world, you are right. But seeing the comments of folks like Foxx and Stephon Marbury, my fear is that they are making no effort to distance themselves from the "thug" lifestyle, instead characterizing it as, in essence, a "black thing." That is reprehensible. I agree, it is not a "black thing" but someone other than us white boys needs to say that.

Posted by: JamesPh. at August 27, 2007 08:22 PM

I'm right, period. It's just a shame that these idiots saying it's a "black thing" are so wrong. Clearly, you and I are aligned on this, JamesPh. Those making any excuse for this is are involved in a dirty, dirty business. But excusing it with any reference to race, particularly a race that's had more than its share of knocks and and underminers in this country, is absolutely disgusting.

Am I allowed to ask what southern black man Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. might have to say about Vick and other practitioners of these abuses?

Somehow, I can't see the idea of dog fighting having any staying power on Wikipedia's "African American Culture" section. I hope we hear some "black leaders' speak out about disowning the atempted exploitation of the umbrella of social sanctity that was the claim of it all being "a black thing."

One of my two dogs came home one night, uncomplaining, and went to sleep in the house. It was only in the morning we noticed she'd been ripped open by (likely) a stray pit-bull or two seen regularly in our neighborhood. The pictures are prolly worse than these (damage to leg muscle, and neck) and my 5-year-old still talks about when the dog had "noodles" (drainage tubes) sticking out of her.

Perhaps a cultural war is what's called for, like the war against the KKK that ridiculed them into irrelevancy. I'm not a big fan of culture wars, but I'm even less of a cultural relativist, believing as I do that -- yes -- some cultures *are* better than others.

I for one wouldn't be sorry to see dog-fighting -- and even cock-fighting -- extinguished.

Thanks for reading, wrymouth. Good comments.

I haven't seen videos of dogfighting. And I don't want to see them. But anyone who owns dogs -- and is not evil -- cannot look them in the eyes and not know that they have a soul.

And, that dogs are completely dependent on humans to look after them -- while they give only unconditional love in return. Every time. Without fail.

The kind of human who would abuse an animal is, well, has less humanistic traits in them than a dog.
