Americans tend to eschew political dynasties, recent history notwithstanding. So George Will's column is worth contemplating: "Before shuddering at the prospect of Bush-Clinton-Bush-Clinton-Bush, take heart: The third Bush is not running and the second Clinton is hardly inevitable."
Here's hoping. Personally, I wouldn't vote for another Bush if you put a gun to my head. Hell, I wouldn't vote for another Bush if you put a gun to my cat's head. Did I say cat? I meant son. And/or wife. The point is, I'm staying out the Bushes forevermore.

I actually have a pretty long list of people I would never vote for no matter what: anyone named Clinton or Bush (I still wish Jeb were president instead of George, but I wouldn't want him now), Romney, Biden, Kucinich, Dodd, Edwards.

You're correct, I haven't met your cat (that I know of). But then, I'm allergic to cats, and have little use for them.
As for the "do not vote list", I'd wager that a large portion of the electorate would agree with your position, myself included. Some politicians should be content to serve as a state governor; others should limit their aspirations to the U.S. Congress. A few - like Kucinich and Mike Gravel - shouldn't look beyond the next Star Trek convention.
Posted by: rabidsquirrel at November 16, 2007 10:02 AMDavid, your list is interesting. You mention five Democrats and two Republicans, of whom only one is on the ballot next year. Why that Republican? Why that Republican as opposed to some of the other Republicans running -- why not Tom Tancredo, say, or Ron Paul? Seems like that might be worth a post on it's own.
